The story of Pauley's kitty book hobby
I love cats. I also love the people who love cats. I truly believe that those who appreciate and accept feline personalities into their lives are very special.
A while back, I started meeting other cat people whenever I wore a cat-themed shirt. I enjoyed that so much, that I now wear a cat shirt every time I leave my house, and I get to talk with a lot of cat lovers.

The Artsy Factor
While all that was going on, I was trying my hand at different arts and crafts (see the “Artsy” link on the previous page), and I watched a number of videos on various subjects.
In the Fall of 2025, a video popped up on YouTube showing how to create a simple little notebook based on a 3M Post-it pad. After some experimenting, I modified the design a bit to accommodate a small pen, and started producing kitty-themed books for gifts to the cat people I meet. (Maybe you have received one.)
As I said above, cat people are very special. I believe that they possess a high level of compassion and acceptance - so important at a time when "compassion" itself seems to be under fire.
The results of my book distribution hobby have been very exciting and the enthusiastic reactions I often receive are unexpected; big smiles, hugs, tears, kisses, “You made my day!” “I’ll never forget this.” Cat people (myself included) are so happy to share cat stories, pictures, and their love for cats. It’s become much more than a hobby for me. I’m addicted to the interactions.

In a strange way, this hobby is also like a small retirement business to me, encompassing much of what I enjoyed when I was working: creativity, research, design, production, inventory, etc. (and with no bosses or employees).
Few things I’ve ever done in my life have resulted in so much positive feedback that I've received. And because I see "joy" to be currency, it's a very profitable endeavor.
Distribution
While I have a few books in my car(s) at all times, I always have at least two books on me. In the cooler months, it’s no problem to put a couple of little books in my pockets. But as the weather warmed up, it was a challenge carrying books while wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
So I designed the ideal book-carrying pouch, made a mock-up out of cardboard, and had a shop reproduce it very successfully in leather.
It contains two books with pens, it quickly clips on or off my belt, and is pretty much invisible under my shirt. It is perfect for a quick trip into a store.

Some information about the books
If you have a one of the books, I hope you are enjoying it. Should the Post-it pad ever needs to be repaired or replaced, simply glue in another. Any white glue should work fine. (If you choose Elmer’s, use the “Glue-All”, not the “School Glue”.)
And note that the pen which was included is a cheapie, but it’s the smallest I could find. The clips tend to break if the pen is pulled from the book the wrong way or gets snagged on something. (If you see me, let me know and I'll give you replacement.)
My wonderful kitty, Peeka
Peeka is my inspiration. If you look at the first picture of her below, you’ll see why we named her Peeka Boo.
We hadn’t had a cat for quite a while. But one March afternoon in 2021, I was sitting on my deck, looked over and saw that cutie looking at me. (I’m pretty sure we were thinking the same thing.) She cautiously started to eat the food put out for her there, often peeking over the edge of the deck making sure it was safe to come up. (Sometimes I could only see the tips of her ears - that was so cute.) It didn’t take long for her to get close and move in.
Peeka was obvously not a feral cat. She must have either escaped from somewhere or was dropped off - she took to her new life style very quickly. We’ve become very close, and she now has me wrapped around her little paw.
